We are getting ready to sell our house and want to work with new home builders in order to purchase our next property. We made this decision because it will allow us to customize our house to some extent; we can pick a certain floor plan that works for our family, as well as decide on any upgrades that we want Our current house is nice, but there are several things that would have made it more functional for our family. We want to avoid these problems by having some say in the construction from the beginning.
A friend of ours recently went this route as well and she gave us some good advice. First, she said to look for homes that may already be partially finished; you can often get a much better deal but will still be able to add some level of customization. In addition, she said to make sure to ask the new homes Austin builder's representative about any deals they have going on. Most companies have something available that will save you money, but you might have to ask or do your research in order to find out about it.
We are excited to start this process (and a little nervous!).
